Additional Information:
The Lockheed Hudson is a light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft built by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. It began service with the Royal Air Force shortly before the outbreak of the WWII. The Hudson was the military version of the Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra airliner. It was the first significant military aircraft contract for Lockheed with over 200 Hudson aircraft ordered by the RAF which surpassed previous orders the company had received by that time.
TWA opened the “Eagles Nest Flight Center” pilots four engine school at Albuquerque’s Kirtland Field in June of 1941. TWA pilots were trained to ferry the Hudsons to England for $30,000 per year. This was part of the Lend-Lease program before the United States entered the war. The Hudson’s were also used by the US Army Air Corps and were designated as the AT-28A.
