The Dassault Falcon is a family of business jets, manufactured by the French company, Dassault Aviation. The Dassault Falcon 20 is a business jet developed and manufactured by Dassault Aviation. As the first business jet developed by the company, it would become the first of a family of business jets to be produced under the same name. The first Falcon 20 took off on its first flight on 4 May 1963 and the first flight by a customer took place in 1965. Other Falcon aircraft manufactured by Dassault included the smaller Falcon 10 and the larger Falcon 50, were both direct descendants of the Falcon 20. The 2,500th Falcon was delivered in July of 2017 and more than 2,100 are still in service in 90 countries around the world.
The Falcon Cargo Jet, called the Falcon 20DC, resulted from the conversion of Falcon 20 to a light cargo aircraft. Large numbers of the 20DC were purchased and or converted by Federal Express for overnight courier service.

The FedEx Corporation, formerly Federal Express Corporation and later FDX Corporation, is an American multinational conglomerate holding company focused on transportation, e-commerce and business services and is based in Memphis, Tennessee. The name “FedEx” is a syllabic abbreviation of the name of the company’s original air division, Federal Express, which was used from 1973 until 2000. FedEx today is best known for its air delivery service, FedEx Express, which was one of the first major shipping companies to offer overnight delivery as a flagship service.

Federal Express began specialized air freight service throughout the United States in November 1973. The company had two Falcon 20DC flights per day from Albuquerque to their central hub in Memphis, Tennessee, one early in the morning and the other in the evening. The Falcon 20DC were later replaced with much larger Boeing 727’s by the early 1980’s.
