In 1944 Continental Air Lines began replacing their Lockheed Lodestar fleet with Douglas DC-3’s. The aircraft served Continental’s north-south route from Denver to El Paso and made stops at Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Trinidad, Las Vegas NM, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. A new route from Albuquerque to San Antonio, Texas was also added with the DC-3 that made stops in Roswell, Hobbs, Midland/Odessa, Big Spring, and San Angelo. One aircraft to serve New Mexico was numbered NC44883, pictured below. The Continental DC-3’s served New Mexico until 1963.
