Additional Information:

The Boeing 737 is a narrow-body airliner produced by Boeing at its Renton factory in Washington. Developed to supplement the Boeing 727 on short and thin routes, the twinjet retained the 707 fuselage width and six abreast seating but with two underwing Pratt & Whitney JT8D low-bypass turbofan engines. Envisioned in 1964, the initial 737-100 made its first flight in April 1967 and entered service in February 1968 with Lufthansa. The lengthened 737-200 entered service in April 1968 and evolved through four generations, offering several variants for 85 to 215 passengers.

A new Frontier Airlines evolved in 1994 which was molded much like the former Frontier using Boeing 737-200 jets and with its headquarters and hub city at Denver, Colorado. The aircraft however carry a new wildlife theme with decals of animals, birds, and reptiles on the tails of each plane. The first fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft carried different wildlife on each side of the tail. This Frontier began service to Albuquerque on October 13, 1994 with flights to Denver and El Paso. In 2010 Frontier merged with Midwest Airlines of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and 99-seat Embraer 190 jets were introduced to Albuquerque. All Frontier Jet Express flights ended at Albuquerque on March 1, 2013 at which time service reverted to all Frontier mainline Airbus jets.

Frontier Airlines began new service to Albuquerque on October 13, 1994 with the Boeing 737-200 N207A featuring a mountain ram on the tail that began a series of aircraft named, “Spirit of the West”.

Several of the Frontier 737-200’s with wild life on the tails are shown below as they have all landed at the Albuquerque Sunport over the years until the Frontier service ended.
