additional information
During the mid-1960’s, Frontier Airlines re-engined their Convair 340 fleet with turbo-prop engines and re-classified the aircraft as the Convair 580. Model no. 50 in the collection shows the older livery and model no. 50.1 features the newer color scheme that Frontier adopted in 1978. The Convair 580’s linked Albuquerque with Alamogordo, Farmington, Gallup, Santa Fe, and Silver City, in New Mexico as well as several other cities in Colorado, Arizona, and Utah until the aircraft was retired in 1982.
