Additional Information:

The Cessna 205, 206 and 207, known primarily as the Stationair, is a single-engine general aviation aircraft with fixed landing gear that was used in commercial air service as well as for personal use. The family was originally developed from the popular retractable-gear Cessna 210 and produced by the Cessna Aircraft Company. Cessna describes the 206 as “the sport-utility vehicle of the air.” These airplanes are also used for aerial photography, skydiving and other utility purposes. They can also be equipped with floats, amphibious floats and skis. From 1962 to 2006 Cessna produced 8,509 aircraft in the 205, 206 and 207 variants. The aircraft remains in production.

The Cessna six-seat Model 206 was introduced in 1964 and was built until 1986, when Cessna halted production of its single-engine product line. It was then re-introduced in 1998 and remains in production today.

The Cessna U206 variant comes with a large clamshell rear door and was powered by a 285 hp Continental IO-520-A. The “U” designation indicated “utility” and this model was equipped with a pilot side door and large clamshell rear door serving the back two rows of seats, allowing easy loading of oversized cargo.

Herbert Koogle embarked on the path to becoming a professional engineer after earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Stanford University. In 1965, he established Koogle & Pouls Engineering Inc. in Albuquerque with partner Basil George Pouls. Under their leadership, Koogle and Pouls Engineering grew to become the premier aerial photogrammetry company in the Southwest. The firm engaged in professional design services, but was most notably a provider of engineering services for US House committees that investigated the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. from 1964 to 1997.

The Koogle and Poole survey company used this Cessna U206 aircraft to take black & white/ color/ infrared aerial mapping photos all around the state of New Mexico beginning in 1990.
