additional information
In 1948, Pioneer Air Lines began service between Albuquerque and Dallas, Texas with stops in several other New Mexico and Texas cities using the Douglas DC-3. This model is shown with the first livery of the short lived airline. For a period in 1952 through 1953, Pioneer upgraded their fleet with Martin 202 aircraft however the larger aircaft proved to be too costly forcing Pioneer to revert back to using DC-3’s. Service continued on the route through eastern New Mexico and west Texas until Pioneer was purchased by Continental Airlines in 1955.
