additional information
The Noorduyn UC-64 “Norseman” is a Canadian single-engine bush plane designed to operate from unimproved surfaces. Distinctive stubby landing gear protrusions from the lower fuselage made it easily recognizable. Noorduyn is a subsidiary of de Havilland, Canada.
SPX Air Cargo began as Sky Parcel Express in February in 1967. The owner, Tom Braithwaite, started the small air freight service with two Norseman’s numbers N55555 and N677185. The routes were from Albuquerque to Socorro, Truth or Consequences, Las Cruces, Deming, and Silver City, New Mexico, El Paso, Texas, and Phoenix, Tucson, and Casa Grande, Arizona. SPX Air Cargo had hopes of adding a Twin Otter by 1968 but unfortunately went bankrupt that same year.
