Trans World Airlines, TWA, began service with the Douglas DC-4 to Albuquerque in 1946. Two of the early aircraft numbers that landed here N34538 and N45344. TWA was getting into the world market after WWII with newer and larger four engine aircraft that came online to support the war effort and proved to be able to fly over the oceans. The DC-4’s were soon replaced with Lockheed Constellations and converted to cargo only aircraft, redesignated as C-54’s. The aircraft were retired from the TWA fleet by the mid-1950’s.
