The Douglas C-54 “Skymaster” transport aircraft was used until 1975. The US Air Force version of the civilian airliner, the Douglas DC-4, was used by Ross Aviation as part of their contract with the United States Atomic Energy Commission (USAEC) beginning in 1971. The plane provided passenger and cargo support for Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs and was based at Kirtland Air Force Base.
