This Beechcraft T-34B Mentor, N-421-NM, was a surplus Navy trainer and was flown by US Forest Service in New Mexico as a guide for borate-bombers dropping slurry to extinguish forest fires in 1964. It was used to help fight fires on the west face of the Sandia Mountains and in the Jemez Mountains north of Jemez Springs in 1966. The Beechcraft T-34B Mentor was derived from the Beechcraft Model 35 Bonanza aircraft.
